The Deanery Church of England High School and Sixth Form College is a coeducational secondary school and sixth form located in Wigan, Greater Manchester, England. It currently has around 1,600 pupils and it consistently gets good GCSE grades, amongst the best in the Wigan Borough. The most recent OFSTED report said the school "requires improvement".〔(OFSTED Website page for The Deanery )〕 The Deanery High School is a Church of England voluntary aided school, receiving 15% of its funding via the church and through fundraising. The school's campus is located in the town centre, very close to Wigan bus station and the main Post Office sorting office. It can be reached easily by bus and train. The school was previously housed mainly within buildings which used to be a part of the All Saints School, however, as of present these old buildings are being demolished and a new school building is to be built in their place. For the time being, a majority of the school has had to relocate into a portable building assembled at the rear of the school, next to its All-Weather pitch for the duration of the construction. In September 2008, the Deanery received a new Headteacher, Stephen Brierley, previously Headteacher in an all-girls Archbishop Blanch School in Liverpool.
